The interest in the project has grown faster than expected, and one of the biggest challenges for many builders is not the design itself, but sourcing the right parts in a simple and reliable way.

Because of this, we are now exploring the idea of a Global Sellers / Verified Suppliers section on the Raw Creative website.

The idea is simple:

RawCNC will continue to develop and control the Raw Creative platform, including Build Access, documentation, files, official updates and the community.

At the same time, we are looking for serious sellers, suppliers or small businesses who may be able to help builders source parts locally or regionally.

This could include:

• Aluminium profiles cut to correct lengths
• Linear rails and carriages
• Belts, pulleys and rack/pinion parts
• Motors and drive components
• Electronics kits or control boxes
• Spindles and VFDs
• Screw kits and hardware bundles
• Partial kits or complete hardware kits
• Pre-assembled subgroups, such as axis carriages or mechanical assemblies

You do not need to be able to supply everything from day one. If you can supply part of the solution, RawCNC may in some cases be able to help with parts that are harder to source, such as plate kits, jigs, springs, cover plates and other Raw Creative-specific components.

The goal is to make it easier for builders around the world to build a good machine, while still keeping the project, documentation and official machine versions under RawCNC control.

In the future, qualified suppliers may be listed on a Global Sellers page on the Raw Creative website, with information about what they can offer and which regions they can serve.

At this stage, this is only an open call for interest. No supplier status is automatic, and any future listing or partnership would require separate terms and approval.

I recently purchased the Build Access package for the Raw Creative 2.5, expecting proper drawings (DXF/CAD files) as described in the listing. What I received turned out to be images and screenshots rather than actual CAD/drawing files.

Is a full CAD model (STEP, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) available anywhere for the machine? Having native CAD files would make it much easier to check dimensions, plan modifications, and get parts made accurately.

Sorry for being a bit absent lately. There is a lot going on right now, both with the build platform, the forum, videos, illustrations and the shop, so I have not been able to answer everything as quickly as I would like.

We are also working on the shop side, and hopefully we will soon have all the main parts available for sale. That should make it easier for builders who want to buy parts directly instead of sourcing everything locally.

Just a few comments and questions @rawcnc:

1. The lid has several smole holes as addition to the fan hole. Why?

2. I am going to glue aluminium screens over all holes to prevent dust build-up.

3. I labelled all connectors, cables and parts. I recommend that to everyone.

4. I miss a document noting all steps with timing references to the video. It would make things easier.

5. Since several metal parts (corner aluminium profiles) are exposed, I added ground connectors to them. It is not strictly necessary, but adds extra safety. The unit runs on mains voltage after all.

6. When the estop breaker is mounted the correct way (countersunk side facing in), the holes for the angle brackets for the PSU come to close to the side panel and cannot be mounted.

6. The supplied cables have colors yellow/green, reddish brown, blue and black. Usage for yellow/green for anything but ground is usually not allowed/recommended but since this is a diy project it is not a problem. However, it's worth noting that if you in the future need to open the box and replace or add something  this may become a risk for short-circuiting something.

7. In the machines you sell ready-made, there are handles mounted. Since that box has aluminium profiles that run alongside the longer sides, those handles cannot be mounted the same way on this box. But I would still like handles like those on mine to make handling easier.

  I am looking around the USA for who can cut the steel plates (3mm and 6mm) for the build.  I have heard good words about SendCutSend.com from friends who use them for personal jobs and their employers uses them extensively. My friends say they deliver the product fast and very high quality cuttings with good prices. 

I downloaded the drawing from the Rack & Pinion as a test.  I had to move each part into its own dxf file.  16 parts from the R&P download produced a minimum cost of $508.16 (USD) including delivery. Powder coating would add to the cost which I didn't ask for on the initial quote.  I will also get 15% off my first order by using a link on a youtube.

Are there other sites that I should look at for cutting my plates?

I am looking to build a large size RAWcnc machine. My working material is 3000x900mm, so I need the frame with a size of around 4 meters.

Where should I start? As standard shipping couriers in Europe usually don't accept packages over 2 or 2.4 meters, ordering a 4-meter profile online seems to require expensive custom freight delivery.

For those of you who have built large tables:

• Where did you source your long extrusions? (I am located in Latvia / the Baltics).

• Did you pay for commercial freight, or did you splice shorter 2-meter profiles together to save on shipping?

• If you spliced them, how did you ensure the frame remained perfectly rigid and didn't sag in the middle?

I ordered the kits, racks and pinions from the website. The only parts I have sourced elsewhere so far are guide rail and steel tubing.

So far I've come across a couple of issues putting this all together, worthy noting and thinking of.

1. When mounting the spring loaded motor mounting plates on their assigned positions, the M8 bolt is too thick for the precut holes.

I considered two different solutions. One was theeading and the other was drilling the hole wider. Thoughts?

2. The rails are to be mounted by m4x12 machine screws and m4 t-nuts. However, those screws are too short. They do not reach all the way down to the theeads.So I need longer screws, and was thinking M4x16 since I'm not sure M4x12 would add much enough extra thread to actually give the strength needed.

If I stumble upon additional hardships, small or large, I will add those here.
