Raw Creative 2.5, A serious DIY CNC machine for makers, woodworkers and small workshops

This build platform is under development
The Raw Creative 2.5 build platform is still growing, and new content is added step by step.
The site is already complete enough to build the Belt and Rack version of the machine and includes useful tips, build notes and a simple electronics guide. More detailed electronics documentation, rack version instructions, ball screw version instructions, videos and illustrations will be added over time.
Extended Build Access is available through RawCNC. It gives you access to the drawings, build material, calculators and extra resources needed to build the Raw Creative 2.5 and follow the project as it develops.
Creating this type of build resource takes time, so we release the material as it becomes useful instead of waiting until everything is finished. By purchasing access, you also support the continued development of the Raw Creative 2.5 platform.
If you are visiting this site for the first time, start with the BOM list and the frame calculator in the menu "Parts for the machines" on the right. You can use these tools without logging in. They will help you understand the parts, dimensions and basic planning needed to build the machine.
Why build a Raw Creative 2.5?
Choosing to build a Raw Creative 2.5 is not just about building a low-cost CNC machine. It is about building a strong, rigid and upgradeable machine platform.
The Raw Creative 2.5 is designed with real mechanical strength in mind. The steel plates alone weigh close to 20 kg, around 44 lbs, which gives the machine a solid foundation and a more stable feel than many lightweight DIY builds.
For builders who want a serious DIY CNC project with room to grow, the Raw Creative 2.5 is a very capable starting point.
Raw Creative 2.5 is a further development of our earlier Raw Inventive and Raw 1.5 machines, which have been built by many users over the years.
Those machines taught us a lot, and Raw Creative 2.5 is the result of that experience: a more modern, modular and flexible DIY CNC platform with linear rails, an aluminium frame, and different drive system options.
This machine can be built with belt drive, rack and pinion, or ballscrews, depending on your budget, your workshop and what kind of performance you want.
All important information for the build will be available on this website, including drawings, videos, illustrations, BOM lists and downloadable files.
You do not need to buy anything from us to build the machine. You can download the files, cut the plates yourself and source the parts on your own.
However, if you want to make the build easier, we also offer optional steel plates, hardware kits and selected parts in our webshop. These kits are made to save time, reduce mistakes and help support the continued development of projects like this.

Why build a Raw Creative 2.5?
Building your own CNC machine is one of the best ways to understand how CNC machining really works. Instead of buying a closed machine that you only operate, Raw Creative 2.5 lets you build, adjust and learn the machine from the inside out.
Once the machine is built, it opens up a completely new way of making things. You can cut signs, furniture parts, templates, jigs, decorations, prototypes and small production runs with repeatable accuracy. Draw the part once, set up the material, and let the machine produce the same result again and again.
Raw Creative 2.5 is designed for people who want more than a light hobby toy. It is a serious DIY CNC concept based on real workshop experience, using strong aluminium profiles, proper linear motion and components chosen to work together as a complete system.
The goal is simple: a CNC machine you can build yourself, understand yourself and actually use for real projects.
A better DIY CNC machine starts with better design.
