Please don’t hesitate to ask your questions. If you are building a Raw Creative 2.5, planning your build or wondering about parts, setup or assembly, feel free to start a topic.
I will do my best to answer questions and help as much as I can. As more builders join, the forum will grow into a useful place for tips, build discussions and shared experience.
Is it 6.35 or 8mm dia on the axel on the steppermotor, are they closed loop.
Is 3nm motors to strong or is it ok to go upp in power for 10Amp 230v
It can be both, depending on which stepper motors you choose.
Many Nema 23 stepper motors use a 6.35 mm shaft, but some versions use 8 mm. So it is important to check the datasheet for the exact motor before ordering pulleys or couplings.
The standard electronics kit is based on open-loop stepper motors, not closed-loop motors. Closed-loop motors can be used, but then you need matching closed-loop drivers and you may need to adapt the wiring and setup.
3 Nm motors are not too strong. They can work fine, but I would not go too high in motor size without a reason. Bigger motors need larger drivers and power supplies, and they can draw more current. Since the machine is intended to run from a normal 230V / 10A supply, it is best to keep the electronics balanced and not oversized.
For this type of machine, properly sized Nema 23 motors are usually enough. More power is not always better if the frame, drive system and power supply are not designed around it.
